The envoronment is the concern of us all, here is the latest thoughts of the Governor of California as e-mailed to this site.

Since coming into office, I have dedicated myself to strengthening our great state for future generations whether it's expanding our infrastructure, fixing our schools, bolstering our economy or cleaning up our environment.  I believe protecting the environment and building California is our duty - not only for our children but for our grandchildren.

Climate change - left unchecked - represents an enormous threat.  That's why I have made fighting climate change one of my top priorities.  Changes in global temperatures can alter ecosystems and weather patterns and devestate world economies.  Imagine the difference a few degrees in temperature can make if you're a firefighter facing dry grass or if you're an employee of one of California's renowned ski resorts in the Sierra Navada Mountains.

Some people say to me, ''What about the people who say climate change doesn't exist?''  The way I look at it is: if 98 out of 100 doctors say you have a broken arm, and two doctors say you don't - who would you believe?
If climate change doesn't exist, the question I ask you is: how does cleaning up oue environment and spurring economic development toward new ''green'' industries harm us?  Through our efforts to fight climate change, we will secure both a stronger economy and a claener environment for future generations, and we'll take the first step toward breaking our addiction to foreign oil.

For more information I encourage you to visit the California Climate Change Portal at www.climatechange.co.gov.  Again, thank you for adding your voice to this  important issue.

Sincerely,

Arnold Schwarzenegger
